Mission Statement

Gift of Life Recovery’s mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and structured environment for men committed to their journey of recovery from addiction. We believe in fostering personal growth, accountability, and resilience as each resident rebuilds a foundation of trust, self-respect, and community. Men must be actively working a 12-step program, have a sponsor, be clean and sober and adhere to all house rules. We will utilize a faith based, twelve step approach in our home.

Travis Taylor, LCDC, BSN, Owner

Travis is a Houston native who has been on his own recovery journey since September 1, 2018. He gained his passion for helping others in recovery as soon as he began attending meetings regularly. He started volunteering at Homeward Bound in Dallas less than five months into his own sobriety. He obtained his Peer Support Specialist certification and began working for Riverwalk Ranch, a treatment center in Mansfield, Texas.

  • While at Riverwalk, Travis was asked to oversee the Men’s intensive outpatient (IOP) sober living program. His time overseeing the program exposed him to outpatient recovery and developed a passion within him. Being encouraged by his peers, Travis set out to obtain his Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license from Dallas College. While doing so, he became a recovery coach at Texas Health Recovery and Wellness Center in Mansfield. His time at THR led him to pursuing his nursing license. After joining the Texas Tech Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing program in Dallas, Travis graduated with his BSN in December of 2022. He has worked as an RN ever since and is currently at Valley Hope Treatment Center.

Travis’ goal in sobriety was to open a sober living home one day. However, he never expected  that this was going to happen at this time in his life, but God opened the door. His stepfather, Thomas McBride, tragically passed away on October 8, 2024. He was an organ donor and his transplant foundation was called Gift of Life. A week after he passed the foundation sent us bracelets. It was when Travis saw “Gift of Life” on the bracelets that the idea of the sober living home came to him again. He felt the calling on his heart and immediately started researching locations. Travis found a home and, by the grace of a very good God, Gift of Life Recovery was born.

Travis is an avid Astros and Stars fan.
